Q: Free computer classes for adults in Denver? It seems to good to be true. Are there hidden fees?
A: No, there are no hidden costs. Our training and services are paid for by donations and fees from foundations, corporations, government entities, and generous individuals. The program does not cover transportation or childcare costs.
Q: What courses do you offer?
A: Our plan is to cover a wide range of IT skills with a continually expanding course list. Visit our Courses page frequently to see what’s available.
Q: I meet other requirements, but I am not a U.S. citizen and haven’t received my work authorization yet. Can I still apply?
Q: Why is it a requirement that participants be under- or unemployed?
A: We believe that many people who find themselves in that situation have the potential for rewarding careers in IT if they are just given the training and coaching they need.
Q: Is ActivateIT in cities besides Denver?
A: Activate is partnering with Per Scholas to bring this program to Denver. Today Per Scholas provides courses in twelve cities across the country: Atlanta, GA; Baltimore, MD; Greater Boston, MA; Greater Cincinnati, OH; Columbus, OH; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; the National Capital Region; Newark, NJ, New York, NY and Philadelphia, PA. Q: Do you have results you can share on the success of your program?
A: Our program follows the model developed by an organization called Per Scholas, which has been training students and helping them launch careers in IT for decades. As our program begins to produce similar results, we will post them on our website. Read more about Per Scholas' results and impacts
